Zakat Al-Maal is an obligatory form of charity due when a person’s wealth reaches the nisab amount (threshold), and has been saved for a full lunar year.
Zakat is calculated as 2.5% of a person’s total saved wealth held for a year.
This Zakat is then collected and distributed to the most poor and needy.
